Voltage Inc – Sweet Cafe – Coin Drop Images

Sweet_Cafetumblr_no5q6bVsjQ1so2krro1_500

It’s taken a while but… I’ve finally managed to get all of the ‘Coin Drop Images’ on Voltage’s wonderful ‘Sweet Café’ app. These free images are all a matter of chance and come from playing the ‘Coin Drop’ game with the free coins it gives you if you log in every day, some of them are definitely worth the effort and the wait!!

For anyone who isn’t aware, the sweet café is a free app which gives you access to special stories, brand new app prologues and special gifts and images based on points gained from your other Voltage purchases. A great way of getting that Voltage fix on a day when you can’t really justify spending the money for a new story.

One of the apps defining features is the cute little ‘Coin Drop’ game which features little dancing chibis of a few of your favourite guys and unlocks special prizes for you that can only be achieved by dropping your coins and hoping for the best. Amongst these ‘Coin Drop’ exclusive prizes are 12 (at the moment) CG images, all equally beautiful and some even a little racy.

Sakura Amidst Chaos – Oda Nobunaga – Budding Hearts review

Sakura Amidst Chaos – Oda Nobunaga – Budding Hearts review

sakuraAt the beginning of this month I celebrated my twenty-fifth birthday and Voltage gave me a wonderful gift that satisfied many cravings in my heart; ‘Sakura Amidst Chaos’ was released! This Shogun era app allows its readers to fall in love with shogun warriors in what could possibly be Voltage’s most chivalrous app to date.

The story goes; one incredibly fateful day a young peasant woman, who has lost both her father and brother to war and now finds herself in the care of her unfriendly relatives, meets a number of high-powered, well-respected warrior lords whilst trying to escape her cousins unsavoury advances. Despite being a humble, hard-working young girl, she leaves quite the lasting impression on her handsome, strong saviours, so much so that they write to her the very next day requesting her company and offering her their thanks and affection. Having resigned herself to a life of hard labour, the MC barely complains as she tries to shoulder her mother’s work as well, lest she get ill; so imagine her surprise when the messenger singles her out. Which of these Warlords is her fate tied to and can she overcome the boundaries of her own poverty and the hardships of war?

IMG_2342‘Sakura’s’ design has a very traditional, Japanese feel featuring cherry blossoms, flowers, wooden fans and lanterns which I personally found very appealing and engaging, and the backdrop of tatami mats, traditional dress and beautiful gardens creates a sweet nostalgic feel whilst the art on the characters is very pretty, simple and open. Interestingly, before Sakura’s release I had seen posts stressing adverse opinions in relation to the artwork of the app with some people saying it wasn’t up to the standard of some of the more modern translations like ‘Finally in love again’, ‘Scandal in the Spotlight’ and ‘Star-crossed Myth’; I have to say that I entirely disagree. While the artwork may be simpler and the CGS are more close ups and head and shoulder shots, ‘Sakura’ carries a very similar artistic feel to that of ‘Be My Princess’ and ‘Be My Princess 2’, a style I find comforting and beautiful in its innocence and clarity.

Dreamy Days in West Tokyo – Rihito Hatsune – Immediate reconciliation Headcanon

dreamy days Over the last few days I have been having a stab at flexing my creative muscles by trying my hand at some headcanon writing for some of my favourite Voltage characters. I decided to start with a series of headcanons for the wonderful men of Voltage’s ‘Dreamy Days in West Tokyo’. What would happen if each of the boys immediately recognised the MC and admitted how they’d been feeling since she left? Rihito

Her POV

When I finally arrive at the Black Ship I feel completely exhausted. I run a hand through my hair carefully tucking it behind my ears and check my reflection in a shop window before I pull myself up to my full height and take a deep breath. Cakes in one hand and a hastily scribbled map crumpled in the other I give myself an internal pep talk before pressing a fist again the café door and giving it a push. The cool, conditioned air washes around me and I feel my nerves instantly calm. Inside, the café is romantically lit, with soft leather seating and mismatched tables that perfectly compliment the retro feel of the décor. There’s a wonderfully comforting smell of freshly brewed coffee which brings a smile to the corners of my lips as I step further into the room, spotting a tall man behind the bar. The man is fiddling absently with the dials on an out of date radio and doesn’t hear me enter, he pauses for a moment to push his dark hair out for his eyes before returning to his quest.

I bounce from foot to foot for a moment, feeling a little awkward, but he still doesn’t notice me so I decide to get his attention. I give a little cough. He starts, his hair falls back into his eyes and he turns on me, one hand pushed hard against his chest.

Bartender: “Careful now, beautiful; I’m an old man and I only have one heart” he lets out a breathy chuckle and pats himself on the chest a couple of times. “Good Afternoon, How can I help you?”

I try to conceal the blush rising in my cheeks with a smile and take a step towards the bar. Continue reading

Her POV

It’s been an eventful morning. Having been insulted by the women in the flower shop, teased mercilessly by the surly boy in the cake shop and almost tackled by a frustrated restaurant owner and a delinquent, I am starting to feel like this town really is a lot different from what I remember. When I finally arrive in front of the Black Ship I heave a big sigh of relief, my day may not be over but at least I’m reached my destination.

The Black Ship is a cosy looking café nestled into the shopping district with comforting fixtures and beautiful window boxes. Nerves rush over me as I look up at what is going to be my home for the coming years whilst I study. I take a big steadying breath, closing my eyes for a moment, before I place a hand on the door and give it a gentle push. Inside the air is cooler than it is outside and I immediately feel better. The gently lit room is almost empty except for a few patrons; soft music issues from a radio that rests on the bar and each table has a small vase with a single flower positioned somewhere around the centre.

(Wow, this place is so retro!)

Behind the bar stands a man in his twenties, his gives me a beaming smile and I head in his direction.

(Could this be…?) Continue reading

HER POV

After the evil glares of the girl’s at the florists and the harsh comments of the guy in the cake shop I am starting to feel like this town might not be the same town I remembered after all.

(The shops look the same but…)

I stop for a moment, admiring the colourful array of fruit and vegetables outside of a grocery store when I hear a shout from behind me.

The voice is heavily accented and undoubtedly furious.

Voice: “Woman! You no eat and run!”

I instinctively flinch, trying to make myself as small as possible as I turn towards the man who is gaining on me fast. His face is contorted with rage and I start to panic. Before I can even consider an escape however, another body, much larger and moving much faster, comes barrelling out of the grocery store whose display I had been admiring. The two men collide in an explosion of limbs and I close my eyes against the impact, praying that neither of them is hurt.

Blonde man: “Anan! How many times have I gotta tell ya! Don’t attack ladies.” Continue reading

HER POV

The florist was a no-go, but I need to bring a gift of some kind for my landlord. As I wander through town wracking my brains for an option I stumble across a cake shop. The nostalgic scent of sugar and vanilla drifts through the open door, enticing my grumbling stomach.

(I suppose it is almost noon… and who doesn’t like cakes?)

The smell grows stronger as I slip into the store and I find myself mesmerised by the vast array of temptation that looks back at me from the display case.

(I wonder what I should get?)

As I ponder happily over my decision I hear raised voices coming from what I presume is the kitchen. Continue reading

HER POV

There’s something so comforting about walking through this shopping district. It’s been such a long time since I was last here but the smells and sounds are all the same, perhaps I am the only thing that has changed. The uneven paving is weathered in places from years of footfall, the sun beams down upon it warming the soles of my feet through my sandals.

As I round the corner I breathe in deeply, the scent of flowers pervades the atmosphere and I’m drawn to it, sniffing at the air. It would be impossible to forget this florist. The breezy blue of the shop front and the quaint window display is so familiar but so different. I smile warmly at the vast selection of flowers just begging to be admired and my fingers instinctively skim the petals of roses and forget-me-nots, my heart filling with a nostalgic giddiness that spreads throughout my body, warming me as it goes.

Not for the first time, I find myself wondering. Will they still be here? Will he… I give my head a gentle shake and turn around, pulling the hastily scribbled map from my pocket.

MC: “The … Black Ship… Where is it, where is it? Should be… “ I wobble gently from side to side as I get my bearings then I hear a jingling of bells behind me.  Continue reading

Love Letter from Thief X – Tatsuro Togoshi – Main Story Review

Love Letter from Thief X – Tatsuro Togoshi – Main Story Review

IMG_1903

I have always been a fan of the childhood friend; that wonderful man that she’s known most of her life, who has loved her smile since she first flashed it at him with leaves in her hair and scuffs on her knees. So naturally, Tatsuro had been waving at me for quite some time; his concerned little face tugging at my heart strings every time I opened the app, however there was something that stopped me. By this point I had read every one of the Black Foxes except Atsumu and I had already been well and truly wooed by the dark-side, Tatsuro has a part to play in every route, sometimes minor, sometimes more dominant, but always as an enemy of the Foxes, always a spanner in their plans, with this in mind, the very idea of beginning a romance with, what I now considered to be, my natural enemy, felt wrong somehow. Luckily, I am a somewhat weak-willed person and following a re-read of Kenshi’s route in which my heart began to break for little Tatsuro and his plight, I decided to give in to the impulse and see just how sweet this ‘Childhood Sweetheart’ could be.

In case you don’t already know, ‘Love Letter from Thief X’ is a Voltage Inc. otome game for IOS and Android users which centres around the exploits of a young curator who gets caught up with a group of Robin Hood style thieves who are intent on stealing back her Great Grandfather’s most prized works of art from the criminals who currently covet them. This group of five handsome thieves are charismatic (some more so than others), capable and a whole lot of fun. Below is a promotional video for the app.

So what happened to make me adore Tatsuro so readily? The answer is; he broke my heart. He broke my heart and he glued it back together again with he’s adorable smile and his clumsy pursuit of the oblivious MC, the first girl he’d ever loved. Continue reading

A little update and an apology for my absence!

A little update and an apology for my absence!photo 2

Hello Lovelies!

Some people may have noticed, though a few might not have noticed at all, that I have been a little absent over the last couple of weeks. Things have been a somewhat hectic over here and I have been doing my best impression of a headless chicken for a sometime so I hope you’ll forgive me for neglecting my little blog in the wake of such circumstances.

I haven’t really posted a personal ‘Here’s what’s going on with me’ post on this site before now but I fancied doing one today just to let you all know what I’ve been up to, let you know that I haven’t forgotten you and promise that the neglect will stop soon.

February was exceedingly busy. I made a few decisions about my future including a potential change of career and some additional study which I am thoroughly looking forward to, I overcame a HR nightmare at work to recruit a new lady who is absolutely lovely is reacting very well to being trained by someone younger and will hopefully stick it out for the longhaul and I had a much deserved week off which I spent curled up a corner of my home with a cat on one side, a bunny on the other and all thoughts of responsibility erased from my mind, now I’m back at work, fighting fit (sort of) and feeling as tired as I would have been had I never had any time off. Such is life on the treadmill.

Last weekend Another Earth Collectables hosted a stall at Geek Central’s Spring Thingy at Brighton’s Komedia, peddling our wares for all to see. Our stock of Funko POP’s is ever growing and now our display is taller than I am! I had a wonderful time in Brighton, spoke to some really interesting people and got to spend a whole day surrounded by the things I love. Next convention is at the end of March in Southampton and I can barely contain my excitement, maybe I’ll see some of you there 🙂

In other news, the lovely ‘thelimitlessimagination’ has just gotten me addicted to an incredibly interesting and entertaining young adult, reverse harem fiction series which has given me sleepless nights because I have been glued to my kindle every spare moment of the day, I’m not sure I can confidently tell you what is reality or what is fiction anymore, all I know is that I have fallen in love with 9 fictional characters and am not expecting to come up for air for a while. 😀 I really can’t thank her enough for the recommendation!

I have also recently rediscovered my love of felt and have been making a few bits (pics to follow) and have started to write letters to people again which is so much fun! (Incidentally, if anyone fancies a penpal let me know, I’d love to write to you :D)

So what is coming over the next few weeks:

I have been on a bit of a review rampage so expect:

  • Kimi ni Todoke Review
  • Clannad and Clannad After Story review
  • Angel Beats – First impression
  • 4 new voltage reviews and
  • 3 new toy reviews including a particularly awful set of TMNT bootlegs which actually showed up with their legs detached and half-finished paint jobs!

I’ll try to be much more active over the coming weeks and hope you’ll all stick around and let me know what you think 😀
